Paul McCartney wanted out of the ugly business surrounding the Beatles breakup, so he and Linda headed for their farm in Scotland. Paul learned farm work, raised sheep, spent time with the kids, and turned that life into music.

Then Rolling Stone critic Jon Landau heard one of those songs and thought the country-life lyrics rang false.

The funny part is that Paul was pretty much describing what was happening outside his own front door.
