Paul McCartney identified this Little Richard classic as the first song he ever sang in public. He also performed it at the piano on the day he met John Lennon.

Years later, the Beatles recorded it in a single take and used it to close their final scheduled concert before a paying audience. Their press officer taped that show, but the tape ran out before the song ended.

This is the story of the Beatles’ “Long Tall Sally.”
