Paul McCartney has told two different stories about the animal behind one of Wings’ biggest songs. One version starts with a surprise litter of black Labrador puppies. The later version puts Paul on his Scottish farm with a little Shetland pony, a guitar, and a hilltop writing session.

Add Linda’s father, a strange suffragette reference, and a Capitol executive who pushed Paul to release the song as a single, and you get the very odd story behind Jet.
