In 1963, 20-year-old Paul McCartney met 17-year-old actress Jane Asher. Living at her family's Wimpole Street home, Paul wrote classic Beatles hit songs like "And I Love Her," "You Won't See Me," and "I'm Looking Through You" in the basement.
​After five years together, Paul proposed with an emerald-and-diamond ring on Christmas 1967. They traveled to India together in early 1968 for meditation, but by July, after returning home, Jane discovered Paul with Francie Schwartz and publicly announced on the BBC that their engagement was finished.
