If you've been following this channel for the last couple of years, it should be apparent by now that I'm a big fan of the USA and Iove travelling there as much as I can to explore its different states. Recently, I travelled to Asheville NC, Greenville and Charleston SC, and Savannah GA on a fairly ambitious solo sightseeing trip, and just as I've done before, I wanted to document the trip in music video form. Around the time I planned this trip, I wanted to work again with Aman and another newcomer to the Gothik Serpent collaborator's club, Chris Eu, who I've jammed with for well over a decade by now. I also knew the song we'd work together on would be a CCR song, and when thinking about which song to cover, it was obvious that Up Around The Bend's lyrical content made it the star candidate.

We initially planned to record the song one step down, as there was some worry that John Fogerty's soaring vocals would be hard to do justice. Fortunately, Aman gave it a go and the results, I think, are stellar. I also felt that the original song was too short, and it would be hard to cram in footage from four different cities across three states into a video that's barely three minutes long. So, I extended the song in places where it made sense to do so; longer third and fourth choruses and a slide guitar solo section for Chris.

It took a while to parse through hours of footage to find the moments that would fit within three minutes, but overall the result encapsulates my trip in as concise a manner as possible. At any rate, a happy fourth and 250th anniversary to all of you in the USA!
