In April 1998, as Linda McCartney lay dying of liver failure, Paul chose to keep the diagnosis from her to protect her peace. On their Arizona ranch, he softly described her riding her favorite Appaloosa stallion on a clear spring day. With those gentle words as her final thought, Linda closed her eyes and passed away peacefully.
